Key West and the 4th corner

Four out of Four!

12,186 miles, 28 states, and 4 provinces and a mere seven weeks after leaving Pensacola, Fl, today I parked my bike at the southern-most point of Florida in Key West!!  A TV crew met me at my friend’s house on Big Coppitt and attached two Go Pro cameras to my bike.  Then we rode down to Key West with the van in front shooting more video.  I felt a bit like a celebrity.  The crew was wonderful to work with, and even arranged for me to pull my bike up on the sidewalk right in front of the southern-most monument.  See pixs at http://s1141.photobucket.com/albums/n595/gypsyjudge/

I was given a promotional brochure at the Shriner’s Hospital in Sacramento, and it’s ridden in my luggage across the country.  Across the front page it reads, “A promise worth keeping.”  That sums up my motivation, what has kept me going when it’s been too hot, too cold, too windy, or too buggy.  I’ve met incredible people along the way, and seen portions of this beautiful country.

And how does it feel to finally complete the fourth corner?  It was beautiful riding down the coastline with the ocean to my left, and I was surprised to realize I was crying.  It’s been a long ride – and a good one.

Congratulations Laura. You of all people do not need to be advised.
In most all the messages to you concerning the 4th corner I read a welcome back comment.
You still have about 900 miles to go before you’re back to Pensacola. Therefore, please remember that it is not over until it’s over… warm regards

Congratulations Laura! No one ever doubted for a second that you could do this!! I know one doggie that’s going to be very happy to see her mom! Take care and check in when you get “home”.

Laura, I am so happy for you, your words, “riding down the coastline with the ocean to my left, and I was surprised to realize I was crying”, you almost had me crying and being right there with you (while in my nice comfortable chair).
I am so happy that your friends and others see how important it is to help children that they have taken the time to be there for you and the children you are helping – you are a celebrity!

    Way to go Laura!
You are an amazing person. I cannot wait to hear all about the spiritual implication this ride had for you. Look forward to your safe return.
    Love, Gigi

I so enjoyed reading about your travels!…OMG..riding that 900lb behemouth through dirt ,mud, and sand made me cringe..and breathe a sigh of relief seeing you made it !
Reminds me of Musashi’s philosophy of just do it and do it well. Nothing and no one holds you back…an admirable trait. Many children are better off now because of caring folks like you helping them. A very worthy cause!!!!
    Welcome back!!!!!!

Glad you made it – you close to home now – and it will all be for a good cause – I hope this site stays up for a while for all to see and enjoy – we are proud of you – let us know when you get back – I know mom will love to hear from you and hear the stories you have to tell – she just turned 89 on the 14th – wish I could have done this with you – and had my mom in tow – maybe next year – you could do it again and we could follow in the van – a bed in the back for mom 🙂 – all for another good cause

    Congratulations Judge Laura!
I spent the last few weeks brainstorming how Skwirrel and I could make it to KW to meet you on the final leg. We helped send you off and it would have been great to be there to greet you at the Grand Finish! Dang jobs got in the way though!
It’s been a long, arduous, but enjoyable experience you have been through. Not many can say the same! Come back to Pensacola soon!
